Martha Aschmann - Biography

Martha Aschmann

Martha Aschmann was born in a small Berkshire Mountain town in Western Massachusetts in 1951. Growing up in rural surroundings on an isolated hilltop has had a great influence on her artwork. With four sisters and a brother as the 'neighborhood kids', creativity was an abundant necessity in work and play. Following a BFA degree in 1974 with a concentration in drawing and sculpture, she has completed dozens of works for private collections in varied mediums, receiving numerous awards in regional exhibits. Her current paintings are in pastel, primarily Adirondack and Berkshire landscapes and pastoral scenes and her drawings are completed sketches from recent camping trips. She and her husband James have lived in Northern New York since 1976 where they raised three children and now enjoy six grandchildren.
